The Department of Pathology, Wayne State University, Wayne Health and the Children’s Hospital of Michigan is seeking an outstanding academic pathologist to serve as Chief of the Department of Pathology. Children’s Hospital of Michigan is a freestanding institution that is part of the seven-hospital Detroit Medical Center and serves as a major teaching and research center for the Wayne State University School of Medicine. The Department accessions over 5,000 surgical specimens annually, covering the entire spectrum of pediatric diseases. The Chief will be the medical director of key clinical laboratories on site along with having full access to Detroit Medical Center University Laboratory specialty labs including cytogenetics and molecular diagnostics. The Pediatric Pathologists will have the collaborations and mutual consultations with additional subspecialty expertise provided by other Pathologists in the Department. Tremendous support and opportunities exist for the development of an independent research program in basic or translational research. The successful candidate will also lead the teaching activities at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, including the pediatric pathology fellowship, and pediatric portions of the DMC/WSU residency program.
